Genevieve C. “Jane” Huffman, 86, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Monday July 1, 2019 at the Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. She is the loving wife of William J. Huffman, they were married for 61 years. Born February 18, 1933 in Scranton, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Paul and Rose (Keehn) Kennedy. She was a resident of Monroe County for most of her lifetime and for the past 20 years she and her husband wintered in Arizona. Jane was an active member of the Church of Saint Matthew where she was on the finance committee for many years. She was Past President of the Pocono Medical Center Auxiliary, where she was involved for many years with the Antique Show, Charity Ball and many other committees. In 1972 Jane was appointed a Trustee of East Stroudsburg University by Gov Milton Shapp, and governors Richard Thornburgh and Robert Casey reappointed her. She served as secretary, vice chair and chair of the board, and served on the search committee for two university presidents. While a Trustee, she founded the Student Affairs Committee; and the students made Jane an honorary member of their leadership chapter Omicron Delta Kappa. She also took part in the transition from state college into university in the 1980’s. Her message to new ESU Trustees was one of dedication to ESU, to remember the taxpayer, and treat the students with courtesy and respect as young adults. Jane retired with honors as a Trustee of ESU in 1997 after 25 years of service. Jane served on the Pennsylvania Association of Councils of Trustees (PACT) for many years and in 1992 she was elected president. She was husband Bill’s biggest supporter throughout his years as a member of Rotary International. She was awarded a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. Jane was a great mother and a great supporter of her children’s academic and athletic pursuits, as President of the East Stroudsburg High School Band Mothers and as a Football Mother. In addition to her husband William, she is survived by her children, Kay Neumayer and her husband Tom of San Ramon, California, Paul Huffman and his wife Claire Falkowski of Enola, and Carol Huffman and her husband Mark Hodgson of Stroudsburg, and She was preceded in death by her sister Rose Paula Kennedy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday July 6, 2019 at 10:00am at the Church of Saint Matthew 78 Ridgeway Street, East Stroudsburg. Cremation will follow There will be a viewing on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of Mass at Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the ESU Foundation, General Annual Scholarship Fund, Ahnert Alumni Center, 200 Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg PA 18360 The Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
