Gene Alan Tucker of Tobyhanna, Penn., and long-time resident of Hayfork, Calif., passed away on

September 21, 2023, at the age of 61. He died at the Lehigh Valley-Pocono Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Gene was born on Nov. 24, 1961, and was adopted by his parents Glen and Norma Tucker. He graduated

from Hayfork High and owned Gene’s Automotive in Hayfork for several years after taking over the

family business from his father. In 1982, he married Jacqueline Hair and had two kids, and in 1999, left

Hayfork. He later remarried to Trish Kubasek, who passed away in 2022.

Gene was most well-known for his storytelling, and vibrant and theatrical personality. He could play

virtually any instrument and cherished his 12-string acoustic guitar. He was also gifted with his

mechanic’s wrench, growing up helping his dad restore classic cars and welding. But again, none of that

compared to his ability to tell a captivating story. With animated hand gestures, you never wanted to sit

next to him at the dinner table as you would assuredly get whacked in the head at some point during

the meal.

Kind-hearted and always willing to volunteer, Gene helped build Hayfork’s Little League field with family

and community members in the late ‘80s, actively participated in Rotary, Mountain Actors Workshop,

and the Trinity County Fair Destruction Derby. During his time in Hayfork, he could always be counted on

as a Little League umpire or coach or for taking his daughter to dance practice. He was an understanding

and charitable person, who could make friends with anyone. He loved being a father, an uncle, and a

brother.

Gene is survived by his two children, Gary Tucker, 40, of Guernsey, English Channel Islands, and Joanne

Tucker, 34, of Weaverville, Calif; his granddaughter Aleksandra Tucker, 18, of Guernsey; his daughter-in-

law Rebecca Tucker; his stepson Chris Kubasek of Tobyhanna and his step grandchildren Kelly, Stephen,

Ciara and Edward.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Norma Tucker, and his sister Linda Tucker.

The Tucker family will hold a private celebration of life in Hayfork, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family

requests donations be made to Mountain Actors Workshop, the nonprofit theater organization.

Donations can be sent to Mountain Actors Workshop, PO Box 1335, Hayfork, CA 96041.
