Picture Frederick E. Strunk, 89, of East Stroudsburg passed away on Sunday May 13, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Manor. He was the husband of Carol (Campbell) Strunk. Born June 26, 1928 in Middle Smithfield Township the son of the late Howard and Lillian (Sebring) Strunk. He was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. Fred was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II, serving on the USS Houston and the USS Whitehurst. Prior to his retirement Fred was employed by the Monroe County Housing Authority; prior to that he worked for Richard Pierce Builder: he also worked for Pocono Produce. Before he joined the Navy, he was a truck driver. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1336; the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1106, and the George N. Kemp Post # 346 American Legion. In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his daughters, Christina Hackett and her husband Edwin, Judith Palmer and her husband James and Melody Slovonic and her husband Patrick. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was predeceased by his siblings Samuel H. Strunk Sr, Carl “CL” Strunk, Blanche Cramer LaBadie, Dorothy Post, and Berneada McCarthy Biederman. Private Memorial funeral services with Navy Military honors will be held at the convenience of the family.
