Picture Florence M. VanWhy, 92 of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Wednesday June 1, 2016 at the Golden Living Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of the late Luther VanWhy who died February 29, 2004 Born April 17, 1924 in East Stroudsburg, 1 of 14 children, the daughter of the late Sanford and Dorothy (Lee) Houser. She was a lifetime resident of Monroe County and was of the Methodist Faith. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #346, East Stroudsburg. Florence and her husband founded, owned an operated the former Timothy Lake Campground now known as Outdoor World in Bushkill. She also worked in housekeeping at both Fernwood and Outdoor World. Timothy Lake was named after her oldest son Timothy VanWhy. Florence is survived by her children Norman S. VanWhy and his wife Sara of Bedford, Miker A. VanWhy of Bushkill, Roxanne F VanWhy of Lincoln, Maine, Horton J. VanWhy and his wife Rose of Marshalls Creek, and Joe VanWhy of West Chapel, Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren Timothy and Brad Lattig, Beth, Eric, Dalton and Stevie VanWhy; her great grandchildren Cleo, Dakota, Noah, Jackson, Emma, Shane, Aurora; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Timothy VanWhy Graveside funeral services will be held on June 17, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemaker’s with Pastor Margie Good officiating. The Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg is in charge of the funeral arrangements In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater PA Chapter, 3544 N Progress Ave, Harrisburg PA 17110
