Florence Levey, 92, of Mount Pocono, passed away on Thursday September 15, 2016 at the Pocono Health System Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Wesley Henry Levey, who died March 18, 2005. Born February 21, 1924 in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, the daughter of the late William J. and Agnes (Crawford) Murray. She was a resident of Monroe County since the early 1980’s and prior to that of Long Island. She was of the Catholic Faith. Florence was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #3448, Mount Pocono. She worked a the Double Day Bookbinder in Garden City, New York for 13 years, she also worked in a supermarket in Uniondale, New York for several years. There will be a viewing on Tuesday September 20, 2016 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm with Prayer service at 5:00pm pm at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, with Deacon Kevin Scheirer officiating. Cremation will follow and her cremated remains will be interred with her husband in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania. Special thanks to the Pocono Health System Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care and especially Debbie of the Caregivers of America for keeping Florence comfortable in her last days.
