Evelyn M. Dewitt

Evelyn M. DeWitt, 98, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Sunday May 21, 2023 at her home. She was the wife of Alvin H. DeWitt Jr, who passed away in 1992.

Born September 27, 1924, in Wooddale, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel (Brush) Lesoine. She was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

Evelyn was a member of the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, The Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

After graduating from East Stroudsburg High School, she attended Temple University

Prior to her retirement, Evelyn taught commercial/business at the East Stroudsburg High School for 25 years.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters Susan C. DeAngelo and her husband James of Stroudsburg, and Anne Suydam and her husband Scott of Long Beach Island, New Jersey.

Her grandchildren Aaron DeAngelo of Stroudsburg and Adam DeAngelo of Havertown, Kellie Suydam of Baltimore, Maryland and Ryan Suydam of Long Beach Island, New Jersey; and Eric Miller of Dingmans. And 6 great grandchildren.

Evelyn is also survived by her daughter-in-law Diane DeWitt of Dingmans.

She was predeceased by her son Steven DeWitt, on June 7, 2005

Memorial funeral services will be held on Sunday June 4, 2023, at 1:00pm at the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor Lynn Lesoine officiating.

There will be a visitation on Sunday June 4, 2023, from 12:00noon until the time of the services at the funeral home.
