Eugenia Sue Bruno

Eugenia S. Bruno, 82, of Middle Smithfield Township, East Stroudsburg, PA passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026. Eugenia, lovingly known as “Cookie” or “Jeannie”, was born in New York, NY on March 1, 1944 to Herbert and Margaret Baxter (nee Assoian). She was a graduate of Dodge High School in Bronx, NY. It was there she met her lifelong friends, Dolores and Geri, who were more like her sisters. She married her husband, Frank on October 3, 1970. The couple moved to Hackensack, NJ in 1979 where they raised their two children. Eugenia worked as a crossing guard in Hackensack for several years, and then for the Bergen County Clerk’s Office for 25 years where she retired in 2010.

Eugenia loved her puzzle books, watching old movies, Broadway shows, and anything related to Doris Day. While she enjoyed all holidays, Christmas was her absolute favorite. She had a flair for decorating and could make the smallest gift look the most grand.

Eugenia is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Frank; daughter Joanne Prescott and her husband Lawrence; son, Frank and his wife Tracie. She is also survived by her beloved grandson, Joseph who she adored with every ounce of her being.

Respecting her wishes, a private cremation will take place under the care of Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
