Eugene L.. Swartz

Eugene L. Swartz, 104, of East Stroudsburg passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2015 at home. He was the husband of the late S. Elizabeth (Landon) Swartz, who died April 13, 2002. Born July 21, 1911 in East Stroudsburg, the son of the late John and Emily (Hoffman) Swartz. He was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. Eugene was a farmer his whole life, he also served as a Smithfield Township Supervisor for 2 terms. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting and fishing He was a charter member of the Monroe Beagle Club. He was also d a member of the Monroe Beekeepers Association, he started keeping bees in his late teens and still had a few hives up until he was 100 years old. Eugene is survived by his son Gary Swartz of East Stroudsburg, his daughter Joan Graham of Marshalls Creek, his 2 grand daughters Gayle Gersbach of Slatington and Crystal Swartz of Stroudsburg. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Swartz. The family wishes to thank the Visiting Nurses & Hospice Care staff for their help and support. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at high noon at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor Margie Good officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pocono Health Systerm Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Monroe 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg PA 18301.
