Emil James Stenger Sr, 72 of Saylorsburg, passed away on Wednesday January 6, 2021 at St Luke’s Hospital Monroe Campus. He was the husband of Beatrice (McNally) Stenger, they were married for 52 years. Born August 14, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York the son of the late Jacques and Margaret (Stas) Stenger. Emil and his wife Bebe owned and operated Stenger’s Bar in Saylorsburg for 35 years; he retired with the Teamsters Local #807; was a member of the Buckskin Gun Club in Hector, New York since 1973; and was a former President of the Saylorsburg Playground Association. In addition to his wife, Emil is survived by his children Emil Stenger Jr. and wife, Tanna Stenger (Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania) Mary Jakobsen and husband, John Jakobsen (Sciota, Pennsylvania) Daniel Stenger and fiancé Marsha Mattfeld (Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania) Jacqueline Stenger (Virginia Beach, Virginia) His grandchildren Logan and Maverick Stenger; Jake and Mackenzie Jakobsen, and Emma Stenger. He is also survived by his brothers John and Eugene Stenger; close family friend Craig Detweiler, Sister in law Joanne McNally and his niece Danielle Jennings, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his 2 brothers Jacques and Joseph Stenger. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family; burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Animal Welfare Society of Monroe (AWSOM) PO Box 13, Stroudsburg PA 18360 or to the Saylorsburg Playground Association PO Box 125, Saylorsburg PA 18353.
