Elizabeth "Liz" Bailey Hays

Elizabeth “Liz” Bailey Hays, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Born April 22, 1962 in New Brunswick, NJ the daughter of the late Alfred and Alice (Tilquist) Bailey. She grew up in Milltown, New Jersey and graduated from Pius High School in 1980. During her years in school, Liz was involved in many activities, but the two she was most proud of were Girl Scouts and Majorettes.

Liz moved to the Poconos in the late 1980s and started her family, she lived in and around the Poconos for much of the rest of her life.

Liz was a Chef her entire working career, mostly working with college kids and the elderly. Two of her favorite jobs were at East Stroudsburg University and Pocono Lutheran Village. She was always so proud of her work.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents Al and Alice Baily, her husband Virgil Hays and her daughter Danielle Overland.

Liz is survived by her daughter Alyson Overland (Adam Shelp) of Delaware Water Gap, her partner Norman Heckman of Stockertown, her stepchildren Elisabeth Hays (Blake) of Chicago; Tom Hays (Naomi) and family of New York; her brother Steven (Debbie) of North Brunswick, New Jersey, her sister Patricia of Somerset, New Jersey; her beloved nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, extended family, friends a her fur babies Floyd and Mama.

Per her request, there will be no service. Cremation has been entrusted to the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations, or anything material, all Liz would want from each of you is to be a friend to yourself.
