Dorothy W. Thompson, 90, passed away on Monday November 19, 2018 surrounded by her family at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Pocono. She was the widow of Harry Thompson, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2010. Born January 12, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late John Edward and Lillian (Thorpe) Whittaker. She lived in Philadelphia with a part-time residence in Tannersville for many years and she and her husband spent winters in Yuma, Arizona. Dorothy worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, she also worked and volunteered at the Simpson House, a senior living community in Philadelphia. She was a member of the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church for the past 5 years. She was also a member of the Red Hatters Society and the Cookie Cutters. She along with her husband volunteered for the Disabled American Veterans in Arizona. She was a kind and loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and is survived by her four children, Marjorie Lewis and her husband David, of Norman, Oklahoma, Eileen Ravert of Douglassville, PA, Harry William Thompson of Roseburg, Oregon, and David D. Thompson and his wife Dolly of Tannersville; four grandchildren G. John Lewis, Richard Ravert, Melanie Hipszer and Jason Thompson. She is also survived by many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Memorial funeral services will be held on Monday November 26, 2018 at 11:00am at the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church, 915 North 5th Street, with a Pastor Lynda Keefer officiating. There will be a visitation on Monday from 10:00am until the time of the services at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the : Disabled American Veteran at www.secure.dav.org The Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street Stroudsburg is in charge of the arrangements.
