Dolores M. Sobrinsky

Dolores M. Sobrinsky, 91, known to all as Dolly, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Pocono VNA Hospice House. Born May 9, 1926, in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sebastiano and Santa (Amoroso) Messia. A lifelong resident of the Monroe County, Dolly graduated from St. Matthew’s Elementary School, Stroudsburg High School and Churchman’s Business School. Dolly was the wife of the late Stephen Sobrinsky who died in 1984. She and her husband owned and operated Steve’s Coffee Shop in East Stroudsburg. She was also employed by The First Stroudsburg National Bank and Line Material Co. Dolly joined the staff of East Stroudsburg State College in 1963 where she worked as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the Graduate School until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg and AFSCME Council 13. Forever young, Dolly was known for her style, wit and dance skills. Small but mighty, she was a two-time cancer survivor who courageously battled the disease again for the last year of her life. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and her husband were her sisters, Marie (Messia) Werkheiser, and Margaret (Messia) Heller. Surviving are a son, Stephen S. Sobrinsky of Pen Argyl, a daughter, Lori-Jo (Sobrinsky) Yarosh and her husband, David of Stroudsburg, grandsons, Stephen J. Yarosh of Philadelphia, and Andrew D. Yarosh of Stroudsburg, her companion, Joseph Fleming of Stroudsburg, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 5–8 PM at Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 78 Ridgeway St., E. Stroudsburg, PA with the Rev. Gerald Shantillo officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Pocono VNA-Hospice.
