Dolores Marie Liberty Dunstan, a dedicated educator and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 8, 1951, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Arthur and Liberty (Huertas) Buskirk, Dolores devoted her life to fostering growth and learning in young minds for over four decades.

Her impressive career as a Middle School Teacher in the East Stroudsburg School District spanned 43 years, during which she left an indelible impact on countless students. Beyond the classroom, Dolores enriched the professional lives of fellow educators by teaching Continuing Education courses at IU20 during summer sessions. Her leadership as head of the foreign language department at East Stroudsburg reflected her commitment to educational excellence and mentorship.

Dolores was a lifelong learner, earning two master's degrees that underscored her passion for education. In 1987, she received a master’s in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), followed by a master’s in arts from East Stroudsburg University in 2007. Her academic achievements stand as a testament to her dedication and thirst for knowledge.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of over five decades, David Martin Dunstan, to whom she was married in 1972. Her legacy continues through her children: daughter Jennifer Hill of Kunkletown, and son Matthew Dunstan along with his companion Audrey Smith of Orefield.

Dolores was preceded in death by her brother, John Buskirk, Sister-in-law Barbara Buskirk, Brother-in-Law Jesse Dunstan niece, Debbie, whose memories she held dear.

In honoring Dolores Marie Liberty Dunstan’s life, we celebrate a compassionate teacher, a devoted wife and mother, a steadfast friend, and a woman whose commitment to education and family will long be remembered. Her contributions have left an enduring mark on all who had the privilege to know her.
