Desmond “Desi” Ryan

Desmond Ryan, affectionately known as Desi, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old.

Born on July 23, 1943, in County Limerick, Ireland, Desi immigrated to the United States in 1962 in search of new opportunities and a brighter future. Through hard work, determination, and unwavering dedication, he built a life marked by integrity and kindness.

Desi spent many years working for White Rose Frozen Foods, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. After retiring, he continued working at Pocono Hospital in Pennsylvania, where his friendly smile and willingness to help others made a lasting impression.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Bowens Ryan; his children, Michele Cioffi (née Ryan) and her husband, Jerry Cioffi; Maureen Alonso (née Ryan) and her husband, Jose Alonso; Thomas Murry; and Peter Murry and his wife, Elizabeth.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Declan, Aiden, Briel, Ryan, Kelly, Molly, and Joseph.

Desi was predeceased by his sisters, Julia Lowe and Margaret McDonough. He is survived by his brothers, David Ryan, Alexander Ryan, and Robert Ryan, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Those who knew Desi will remember his gentle heart, quiet strength, generous spirit, and warm sense of humor. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and he left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His life was an example of hard work, humility, and compassion.

Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the memories he gave us and the values he instilled in those around him. His legacy lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched.
