David A. Schuler, 68, of Stroudsburg passed away on Tuesday December 15 at the Wilkes-Barre Veterans Hospital. Born May 21, 1947 in Snydersville, he was the son of the late Eva M (Klingel) Besecker Hughes and the late Charles F. Schuler. He was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. Prior to his retirement, he worked at the Tobyhanna Army Depot in Specialty Packing for many years. He was also an avid stamp collector. David was a proud and decorated Veteran of the United Sates Army Airborne serving during the Vietnam War, where he served 3 tours of duty with the 101st, 82nd and 173rd Airborne Divisions. He received 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with Valor. He is survived by his daughter Tanya J. Schuler-Koltuk and her husband Fikret of Lewes, DE; his son James D. Schuler and his wife Kelly of Olyphant; his four grandchildren Aydin, Ayla, Alexander and Eva; his brother Barry A. Schuler and his wife Kathy of Neola; sister in law Marie Schuler of Stroudsburg ; his former wife and friend Ethel (Planchock) Schuler of Stroudsburg and many nieces , nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. David was predeceased by his sister Rosemary Buzzard and brother Charles A. Schuler. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 19, 2015 at 11:00am at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor Margie Good officiating. There will be a viewing on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of the services at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be on Monday December 21, 2015 at 2:30pm in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, 3rd Floor CLC, 111 East End Blvd, Wilkes-Barre PA 18711.
