Cleveland Currie, 88 of Stroudsburg, PA, passed away on Friday, April 24th in his home after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Cleveland was born on June 18th, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Palmer Currie and Flora Mae (Doss). After High School, he enlisted in the Army and served for several years. Upon honorable discharge, he began his life-long career with United Parcel Service (UPS) which lasted over thirty years. After a brief retirement, he later enjoyed varied career opportunities, including Children’s Ski instructor, Retail Security Guard, and his final, most beloved job as a Bridge Monitor with the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
Cleveland married Maria Ninoska Peralta on December 18, 1996 and together they shared 30 years of love and a devotion to God. Cleveland could be characterized as a man of unwavering obedience, humility, and a deep, voluntary commitment to doing God’s will rather than his own. It was through this commitment that he strived to be the best spouse, parent and friend he could be.
Cleveland is survived by his Wife (Maria), his Children, (Michael, Kelli, Jessica and Elizabeth) and Siblings (Delores, Sharon, William and Walt). He was preceded in death by his Parents, a Son (Lyn) and his Siblings, (Ella, Colie, Tony and Mercedes).
