Clara M. (Tarnacki) Mchugh

Clara M (Tarnacki) McHugh, 89, of Stroudsburg, PA passed away on Monday, January 27th, 2025. She is survived by her sisters, Veronica Gorczyca and Josephine Melnick. Clara was the wife of the Late Hubert P McHugh Jr.

They met at an early age, married and shared 68 marvelous years together. These devout Catholics raised 8 children: Clara is survived by 4 sons: Hubert McHugh III & wife Linda, Michael T McHugh & wife Patricia, Joseph McHugh & wife Rose, and Barry McHugh & wife Kathy.

She is also survived by 4 daughters: Linda and husband John Garrison, Virginia and husband Steve Knopf, Marie and husband Joe Strunk, and Claire and husband Lynn Marks.

Besides collecting and displaying 11,000 pair of Salt and Pepper Shakers, her 8 children kept her busy with 27 grandchildren, And 18 great grandchildren. {The newspaper said they would run out of ink, if we listed them All!}

Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Hupka) & Thomas Tarnacki. Also, by her 2 brothers, John and Thomas Tarnacki Jr., And finally by 2 of her grandsons Shaun Patrick McHugh and Matthew Spence Marks.

The viewing will be held on Friday Jan. 31st., from 8:30am at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, PA. Followed by a 10:00am Mass at St. Matthews Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, PA.

Following Mass, all are welcome to stop in at Clara & Huberts home.
