Christina “Chrissie” Kovacs (Alveari) passed away peacefully on 3/22/26 at St. Luke’s Monroe Campus surrounded by her loving family and friends after a short illness.
Chrissie was born in Hollis, New York, and moved to South River, New Jersey as a young child. She attended St. Mary’s in South Amboy and later pursued her passion for helping others by attending University and UMDNJ for Paramedicine. She proudly served her community as a volunteer member of the South River Rescue Squad. Chrissie worked as a Paramedic in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for over 30 years.
Chrissie had a lifelong love of animals, especially Rottweilers. Her passion led her to found the Pocono Area Rottweiler Klub, where she became a respected ambassador for the breed. She was also a Regional Director and breed warden for the United States Rottweiler Club. Alongside her Husband, she proudly owned and operated Vom Helligkeit, dedicating herself to breeding, raising and showing exceptional dogs.
She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and grandmother who was deeply involved in her children’s and grandson’s extracurricular activities, always offering unwavering support and encouragement. While traveling to dog shows with her husband Joe and grandson Jackson, Chrissie discovered a love for camping; creating cherished memories along the way. Chrissie also loved to spend time at the Shore with her family and attended the Wildwood Firemen’s Convention for many, many years.
Chrissie is predeceased by her parents, Marie Kiernan and Ernest Alveari and her Grandmother, Rose Alveari. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Kovacs; her son, Brian of Easton, PA; her daughter, CJ, and Grandson, Jackson, of Texas; her Brother, Ernie Alveari; and her Cousin, Vanessa Alveari both of New York and “The Crew” (AL, TB, DM, JR, JG, SK, RW) all of which grew up in the Poconos.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Awsom or your local animal shelter in honor of Chrissie’s love for animals.
A public memorial service will be held on June, 20th, 2026 at the Gathering Grove in East Stroudsburg from 10am-12:30pm. A family memorial service will held immediately after.
