Carla R. Miller Profile Photo

Carla R. Miller of Stroudsburg, 76, passed away after a brief illness. She was the widow of Michael W. Miller, also of Stroudsburg, who passed away in 2004, and the youngest daughter of Harold T. Rock and Cora Elizabeth Calkins of Keeseville, NY. Born in Plattsburgh, Carla was a graduate of St. John's Academy in 1963. As a student of nursing, she met and married her husband while he was stationed at the US Air Force Strategic Air Command Base in Plattsburgh. After the birth of their daughter and at the conclusion of his Air Force enlistment, she and her family settled in the Stroudsburg area. Carla lived in the area for over 50 years. She worked at the former Howard Johnson's, among other places, and Pocono Community Bank before retiring in 2008. She enjoyed music, watching classic movies, was a voracious reader, and enjoyed traveling around this beautiful country. She was also just as happy to be home watching the birds out her window with a cup of coffee. In addition, Carla was a proud American and strong supporter of our military. She had a wry sense of humor and a keen mind, and was a fierce and loyal friend to those who knew her well. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Miller-Velasquez, of Queens, NY, and three grandchildren, Hope E. Lawrence, Nelsina J. Lawrence, and Reynaldo M. Velasquez. She is also survived by her sister, Arden Rock Harfield, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David H. Rock and Bruce Rock. As per her wishes there were no services. A private burial was held at the convenience of the family.
