Bonnie Harlan McErlane passed away in her home on Friday, March 17, 2023, one week after
celebrating her 77th birthday. She was born on March 10th, 1946, in East Stroudsburg, PA to
George and Mardean Fenical. She graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1964. She
was valedictorian of Stroudsburg School of Cosmetology in 1965. She was self-employed
hairdresser for over fifty years having her own home salon. She also cut hair at Shirley Futch
Plaza and Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home in East Stroudsburg.
She was an active member of the community serving on the East Stroudsburg School Board.
She would be a fixture in the editorial section of the Pocono Record. She wrote a children’s
book and had a passion for animals. She and her late husband Bob loved entertaining at their
house. Bonnie’s biggest attribute was her ability to care for others. Whether it was her own
children, family, or friend in need, she was selfless and always put others before herself.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Pope and her husband Phil from Stroudsburg, her son
John Harlan and his wife Kate and her three grandsons Chase, Brady and Max from Doylestown.
She is also survived by her sister Gigi Nutter and her husband Scott from Whitesburg, GA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob and sister Jaynie.
