Beverly S. Scheller, 91, of Stroudsburg, PA passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023. She was residing at Grace Park at the time of her death and was blessed to be surrounded by remarkable compassionate caregivers and friends whom she truly cherished. Born to Garner and Dorothy Slutter in Elmhurst, PA she moved to Stroudsburg as a young child where she resided for the rest of her life. After graduating from Stroudsburg High School, Bev went to work for the Bell Telephone Company. Early in her career she served as a telephone operator and later took a job as a service representative, serving the company she loved until her retirement.

Bev was thankful to be a member of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church and appreciated the care and kindness of her church family. She was also a part of the Trinity Lutheran Church family in Bradenton, FL, where she worshiped for many years during the winter months. In addition to her churches, she was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth where she served as Royal Patron and Royal Matron during her active years.

Always grateful for the freedoms afforded to her as a US citizen, she voluntarily worked for the Board of Elections and assisted at the polls for many years. Bev was a talented craftswoman and poured her heart, soul and artistry into quilting. She avidly promoted an appreciation of the rich history of quilt making and was eager to share quilting information. She was a member of the Pocono Mountain Quilters’ Guild and the Friendly Quilters.

Everyone who knew Bev knew that she was fun loving, spirited and loved a good joke or limerick. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lewis and sister, Jean Warner. Bev is survived by daughters, Beth Ross (Frederick) and Sally Edinger (William); grandchildren, Audrey C. Edinger and William L. Edinger; niece, Jill Warner; and many wonderful neighbors and friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, January 2 at Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg. There will be a visitation beginning at 10am followed by a service at 11am. The family requests that in lieu of flowers to please consider a donation to St Luke’s Hospice or Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church.

We take comfort in knowing that Bev is now at peace surrounded by light and reunited with her loving husband of 71 years. Forever loved, forever missed and forever in our hearts.
