Bessie J. Peterson

Bessie J. Peterson, 90, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Thursday March 30, 2023, at the Cedarbrook Senior Care Center, Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, She was the wife of the late Harold E. Peterson, who died in 1996.
Born October 18, 1932, in Nutley, New Jersey, the daughter of the late David and Bessie H. (Kierstead) Nichols. She was a resident of Monroe County since 1995 and prior to that of Hardwick (Blairstown) New Jersey.
Bessie earned a Bachelor of Science from the Panzer College in 1954, and became a Phys-Ed teacher in Passaic, New Jersey until she started her family.
Bessie is survived by her son Chris Peterson and his wife Catherine of Stroudsburg, he daughter Jane Doyle of Bartonsville; her grandchildren Steven Peterson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Alexander Peterson of Lincoln, Vermont, Ryan Doyle and his wife Lisa of Clermont, Florida, Shannon Riley and her husband Michael of Bellingham, Massachusetts. Her great grandchildren Daniel Doyle, Charlotte, Juliette, and Olivia Riley.
Bessie was predeceased by her brother David K. Nichols.
Memorial funeral services will be held on Sunday April 2, 2023, at 3:00pm at the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor Zimran Khan officiating.
There will be a visitation on Sunday from 2:00pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
