Berthold "Bert" Kiesel

Berthold “Bert” G. Kiesel, 98, of East Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday January 11, 2021 at Spring Village at Pocono. He was the husband of the late Dorothea Caroline (Sheehan) Kiesel who died June 21, 2018, they were married for 68 years at the time of her death. Born November 12, 1922 in Stuttgart, Germany, the son of the late Adolf and Bertha (Lang) Kiesel. Bert was a proud Veteran, serving in both the Navy and Coast Guard during WII. He worked for Travelers Insurance Company and the Frank B. Hall Insurance Company as a Safety Engineer. He was a very talented many who worked with wood and stained glass and had a terrific sense of humor. Bert is survived by his daughter Lynne D. O’Donnell and her husband Timothy F. of East Stroudsburg; his 2 granddaughters Sandra Weiss and her husband John of Wayne, New Jersey and Heather Nelson and her husband Billy of Riverdale, New Jersey; his 5 great grandchildren, Sara, Evan, Megan, Elizabeth and Lauren. He is also survived by his sister Lottie Frederick, and nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing with a funeral service at 2:00pm on Saturday January 16, 2021 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor John Magee officiating. Burial with military honors will be held on Tuesday January 19, 2021 at 1:00pm in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bert’s name to PA Wounded Warriors Inc, 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill PA 17112.
