Alberta M Decker of Stroudsburg peacefully went with the angels Monday, February 15, 2021 in her home of 63 years, surrounded by her family. Born in Stroudsburg on September 2, 1926 she was the daughter of Charles and Nettie (Wolbert) Overpeck also of Stroudsburg. A lifetime resident of Stroudsburg, she graduated from Stroudsburg High School class of 1944. In her early years, Alberta worked as a telephone operator with the Bell Telephone Company of Stroudsburg from 1943 to 1952. From there she became a teller for Stroudsburg Security Bank and Trust Company. Alberta retired in 1987 from the Stroudsburg High School cafeteria staff where she worked for 21 years while her children attended the Stroudsburg school district. Alberta was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church and Stine Sunday School class. She actively volunteered for The American Red Cross and the RSVP programs with her sister in law, Betty Decker. She and her husband Robert were members of the Leisure Squares Dance club. One of her many talents was sewing matching dance clothes. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, ceramics and took great pride in taking care of her home. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda J. Flowers and her wife Debbi Middleton of East Stroudsburg, One grandson, Brian Robert Flowers of Stroudsburg and two great grandsons Nicolas Robert Snyder of Nuremberg and Lucas Robert Flowers of Archbald. Alberta also had 13 nieces and nephews. Alberta was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Robert Edward Decker, Jr., her son Charles Robert "Chip" Decker, her sister and brother in law, Elaine M. and William E. Schmidt all of Stroudsburg. Funeral services will be held on Monday Evening February 22, 2021 at 7:30pm at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, friends and family may call from 6:00pm until the time of the service. Burial will be on Tuesday February 23 at 11:00am in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 83 South Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg PA 18301
