Albert Roy Andrew

Albert Roy Andrew, 87, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at the Gluco Lodge. Al was born June 20, 1931 in East Stroudsburg, he was the middle son of Harry and Mable (Courtright) Andrew. Al married the love of his life, June (Schleicher) in 1955 and spent the rest of his life loving and caring for her. Al graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1951. He served 6 years in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Al began working at a young age, delivering newspapers on his horse “Star” and learning the Auto Body trade and was the owner and operator of Al’s Auto Body Shop for several years. He later completed an apprenticeship while working for H.C. Archibald and continued working as a Pipe Fitter for Local 524 until he retired in 1993. Al was well known for his fun loving attitude, his easy smile and his willingness to help others. He was an active member of Faith UMC for many years. All and June enjoyed many trips together in their camper. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Al is survived by his children; Kathleen Andrew and husband Jim Podmayersky, Lora Hartman and husband Robert, Michael Andrew and friend Sandra Lahey, Kenneth Andrew and wife Christine (Frailey); grandchildren Jason Abbott, Kara Hartman Wiley, Kyle Hartman, Jillian Andrew Laychock, Michael Andrew Jr, and Jessica Andrew; 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Carl Andrew, and many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harry, his nephew Hale Andrew and niece Debra Andrew. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday May 11, 2019 at 10:00am at Faith United Methodist Church, Stroudsburg, with Pastor Candy LaBar officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
