John R. “Jack” Burke, 79, of Stroudsburg PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 19, 1944, he was the son of the late James Joseph Burke and the late Edythe Worstall Burke. After graduating from Upper Moreland High School, he served in the Navy Reserve. He moved his family to Stroudsburg, PA in the early 1970s, where he owned and operated various businesses throughout the years including Burke and Kohl Racquetball Club and most notably Steinhauer’s Stationery. Jack was nationally ranked as a racquetball player in the 1980s. He is a past member of several civic and social clubs.


Jack is survived by his loving partner, Suzanne DiGirolamo, his brother, James Burke, his daughter Kelly Schouppe (Stephen), sons John R. Burke, Jr. and James M. Burke (Mary), as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren and a niece and several nephews.


Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, Inc. Internment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery with full military honors will be private and at the convenience of the family.
