Doris Eshelman, of East Stroudsburg, passed away at home on Oct. 20. Doris was born in 1934 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to Jan Schwarz and Gertrude Schwarz, née Lederer. In 1939 the family fled the Nazis for Holland, where they stayed briefly, and then to Chile, where they spent eight years. In 1947 the family emigrated to the United States and settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. Doris met Thomas Charles Eshelman at the University of Cincinnati; they were married on April 16, 1955. They were married for 63 years and have four children: Raoul, Jan, Kristian and Nicholas. Doris loved reading and classical music, especially opera, as well as the old American songs her sons sang for her. Doris is survived by her husband; sons; daughters-in-law, Juliette Eshelman, Sarah Mustoe and Kristin Eshelman; and grandchildren, Lucas, Noah, Jan, Tony, and Holly Marie Eshelman. She will be missed by all.
