Anne Brian Hornkohl, 81, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Thursday March 25, 2021 at her home. She was the loving wife of Thomas Hornkohl. They were married on June 18, 1960. Born July 12, 1939 in Newport News, VA, Anne was the daughter of the late William T. Radcliffe Sr and Clara Herring Radcliffe. Anne grew up in Newport News, and graduated from Warwick High School in 1957 where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. Anne returned to college in 1980 at East Stroudsburg University to pursue her dream of becoming a mental health counselor. She relished her studies at ESU and the friendships she made there. She also enjoyed her first practical counseling experience there. After graduating with honors from ESU (while raising a family of four children), she completed her post graduate education at Marywood College in Scranton. Prior to her retirement in December 2019, Anne operated Life Transitions Counseling and Psychological Services in East Stroudsburg where she specialized in family counseling. She also served Monroe County for several years providing counseling for at risk families and children. Her family is very proud of the more than 30 years dedication to helping people and the countless lives she nurtured in that time. Anne was a congregation member of the East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg Presbyterian Churches where prior to illness she was an active choir member. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Virginia Hornkohl Polinski of Hobe Sound, FL, Brian Hornkohl and his wife, Karin Koenig Hornkohl of Stroudsburg, David Hornkohl and his wife, Jennifer Cheu Hornkohl of Panama City, FL and William Hornkohl and his wife, Amy Ulm Hornkohl of Center Harbor, NH; her grandchildren Audrey Polinski, Natalie Hornkohl, Molly Hornkohl, Mei Hornkohl, Su Hornkohl, Clayton Hornkohl, Ellie Hornkohl and Cecilia Hornkohl. She is also survived by her siblings William T. Radcliffe, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN, Jerry Radcliffe of Raleigh, NC, Linda Radcliffe Behnken of Warrenton, VA, William Ferguson of Boca Raton, FL, John Ferguson of NJ and her sister-in-law, Jean Nahikian of Broomfield, CO, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing on Thursday April 1, 2021 from 10 AM to Noon followed by a funeral service at 1 PM at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor Lynda Keefer officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Women’s Resources of Monroe County, Inc. at www.wrmonroe.org.
