Alice Patricia Bartel

Alice Patricia Bartell (nee Edwards) passed away in her home surrounded by family on Saturday December 28th. She was 92 years old. Born in Scranton, PA, she was a first-generation American of Welsh and Irish descent. It was in Scranton that she met her husband Edward John Bartell. They married and had four children: Ellen J. Jeffcoat , Edward J. Bartell Jr, Michael Bartell, and Michelle A. Seese. As a family, they lived in Scranton, PA, Tom’s River, NJ, and eventually settled in Pocono Summit, PA. Alice leaves a large legacy, having 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren all of whom she loved and cherished. Alice was a long-time employee at Pocono Manor Golf and Country Club, where, over the years, she made many dear friends. She enjoyed her daily scratch offs, spending time with her family, and, more recently, listening to “Please Come Home for Christmas” by The Eagles. Alice also made a lasting friendship with her caregiver, Juanita. Alice is predeceased by her husband Ed, as well as her two daughters Ellen and Michelle. In life, Alice was guided by her Catholic faith. Now, she embarks on the next chapter where she will be reunited with her husband and daughters. Celebration of life for Alice will be held on Sunday, January 5th, 2025 at Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, located at 401 N. 5th Street, Stroudsburg, PA. Visitation and service will be between 12-2 pm
